Hi there.  I'm Shanelle.  I started this blog as 2010 drew to a close, after a good long period of resistance (or procrastination, I'm not sure which).  For several months previously, I often thought of things while out on a run or a bike ride, sometimes saying to myself, "That would make an excellent blog post."  Then I'd go home and talk about My Blog That Doesn't Exist with my boyfriend Jason [update, August 6, 2011: HE IS NOW MY FIANCE.  Carry on].  Being the supportive and encouraging type that he is, he never scoffed at my ideas, but seemed to honestly, actually believe I could--and should--write these things down and have people give a crap about what I have to say.

Although I mainly focus on the running and crafting parts of my life, I just plain like to talk, so there's a good chance I'll occasionally veer off into discussing family, friends, work, and my deep, abiding love for the world of Harry Potter.  Maybe I'll share some of my experiences from growing up on a farm, or the pain of being one of the most awkward teenagers that ever existed.  (Spoiler: I survived.  Both of them.)

And finally, I leave you with a photo of Jason and me at the after-party of the 2010 Indianapolis Mini-Marathon.  40 degrees, howling wind and threatening clouds, we'd both just run 13.1 miles (my first and his fastest), and we're deliriously happy with the day and each other.  My apologies if you just threw up in your mouth a little bit, but we really are that adorable. 

I love that we look ever-so-slightly crazed here.  Something in the eyes, I think.
